WeyPort Masters

Masters swimming in Weymouth & Portland

Unfortunately, the previously communicated change in the Wednesday evening session time is incorrect and the start will still be 8:45pm until further notice.

Training at Osprey on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th at Weymouth are cancelled.  Saturday training sessions will be on as normal.

Normal training resumes on the 2nd January but note that the Wednesday night sessions at Weymouth pool now start at 8:30pm.

The dates for next year’s four race series have been announced and entry is available via www.bustinskin.com.

They are all being held at Bowleaze Cove and have both wetsuit and non-wetsuit categories for two swim distances of 1.2 miles (1.9k) and 2.4 miles (3.8k).

Linda Ashmore broke the European 1500m record in the 65-69 age group at the National Masters Champioships, taking 11 seconds off the previous record.

A Dorset Echo article can be found here.

The entry form for both the long distance (1500m/800m) and shorter distance galas can be found here.

Dorset Masters 2012

Just to confirm dates for Dorset Masters Championships 2012 are as follows:

800/1500 Freestyle Saturday 18 February – at Littledown with electronic timing following Age Groups as per last year, times tbc

Main programme Saturday 11 February – at Canford School pool with electronic timing, start time approx 2pm

The date of the main programme has been brought forward from the end of March at the request of Masters so there is no date clash with other Masters events.

Hi All

Wednesdays resume after the summer break. Hope you are all fit and well.

8.45pm Wednesday Weymouth Pool.

We will be doing a survey as to preferred swim nights and venues in the next few weeks to get a feel how everyone feels.

In the meantime if any fancies coming along this Thursday at 6pm to do reckie to swim in a public lane session at Osprey either to do your own thing / or I’ll suggest a session OR we join in with Mickey Flaherty’s swim set which he does in three reserved lanes he books each week from the centre.

Best wishes

Kate and Julia

The Event Calendar has been updated with numerous galas and swims with entry forms where available/applicable.

The club are hosting a new open water swim this year.

To be held on Sunday 19th June, the event consists of three distances and both wetsuit and traiditional open water attire categories.

For more information, download the entry details and application form under the Mulberry Loop menu.

These are to be held as usual at Greenhill, Weymouth on the weekend of 2nd/3rd July.

An entry pack can be downloaded from the Event Calendar.

New Web Site

The web site has been moved to a new ISP.

As you can see, the appearance has changed somewhat.  It’s ‘under constriction’ but should be fully functional within a week or so.

The old web site is still available – follow the last menu on the right.  It won’t be updated from now on.
