WeyPort Masters

Masters swimming in Weymouth & Portland

On behalf of the Weyport committee I would like to invite you to our AGM at

Osprey Leisure Centre on Sunday 12th November at 7.30pm.

Weyport is run by volunteers for the benefit of members and your opinion really DOES matter. We want to make the best decisions to ensure that the club is able to survive and progress – we cannot take this for granted. There are 2 important issues that we would like to work through with you:

New Image for the Club

The nature of Weyport has changed dramatically – 30 years ago the club was about pool competition , now it is much more about triathlon and fitness. The term ‘Masters’ can be off-putting in the sense that some people may feel you have to be really good to swim with us – which is clearly not the case. We want to discuss the best way to brand and also share club activity to reflect that our members do a lot of interesting swimming related activities. We have some good ideas but your input will help.

Proposed Change the Fee Structure

Swimming pool costs rise every year , we have tried to maintain best value and have held a swim at £4 for several years. We will need to increase fees. Collecting money every session is a nuisance and the money then has to be counted and taken to the bank.

We would like to propose a monthly fee to be paid by standing order which will work out as better value

Bear in mind – the club is not out to make a profit. You have a coach on the poolside for many sessions and swimmers are always welcome to ask for advice about their swimming. You are swimming with friendly people on the same session , hence can work together and Weyport is cheaper than a public swim.

The Committee

Weyport aims to be an open club , we welcome members getting involved and new committee members are gratefully received. The commitment is small , usually three meetings per year at times that are mutually convenient.

Don’t be afraid to put your hand up

Please come and join us to get involved in YOUR club

Best wishes

Paul Mason
